Fast Getaway II
The Corey years…
Working with Corey Haim was an interesting experience. I didn’t meet or see him at all on “Dream A Little Dream II” so it was with some surprise that I found I was tapped to write the script for “Fast Getway II” the sequel to the film about the bank robbing father and son team also starring Leo Rossi.
Although I got a taste of the “terrible tot” syndrome working with Ray Sharkey on my first film, Haim instantly took that to a new level immediately. I remember being very excited to work with Haim – I really like the movie “Lucas” that launched his career. He was fantastic. Very talented.
But during the read through of the script, Cory got a bit jumpy. He was every bit as abrasive and charming as you probably think he is – was. What a shame his untimely death didn’t allow him to redeem himself as an actor. He was a man of immense talent whose demons never allowed him to fully explore that talent.
I liked Cory a lot. I wish we had had a better working experience. But at least I got to work with him first hand. Rest in peace, Cory.
